Havre de Grace Magazine Re-Launches

Yes … it’s returning!

havredegrace magazine logo

After 10 years, we’re bringing the magazine back. Full color, 8x10 publication, titled havredegrace Magazine! I sold it in late 2008 after 10 years of publication. But it never quite worked out and after about 3 years and several efforts, it was returned to me. In the past couple years I’ve seen a real need to publish again. This year it all came together.

May 1st we should be distributing the magazine throughout the city, and at a variety of other locations to attract visitors to our community. But it’s not just about our visitors, I hope the magazine gives a fresh perspective to our local residents and businesses.

I’ll be updating in my blog as we go along. In the meantime, we’ll soon have a Facebook page up and each week I’ll be working to complete our website.

I’m so looking forward to May 2018! Hopefully, I’ll meet you on the street!

Welcome to Havre de Grace

… the meeting place

Summer evening on the Havre de Grace shore looking up the Susquehanna River to the Amtrak bridgeHavre de Grace sits where the mighty Susquehanna River flows into the Upper Chesapeake Bay. I-95 and Route 40 bridges move people from Harford to Cecil Counties and back while I-95 moves people from Maine to Florida passing just minutes from our beautiful city, using Exit 89. Kayaking, boating, parasailing, and fishing are enjoyed along our waters. Beautiful parks give everyone – on or off the water – access to our shores. Unique shops, wonderful eateries, coffee shops, and pubs, comfortable B&B’s offering their individual histories of our community, arts, entertainment, festivals and so much more, all wait to welcome you to our friendly city by the bay.

This site supports the havredegrace Magazine which is offered twice a year – distributed around May 1st and late August or early September. Think of it as a ‘warm handshake’ to welcome you to our city with plenty of information that includes a calendar of events, walking map, great advertising inviting you to enjoy our shops, eateries and festivities plus wonderful stories introducing you to our community.

There’s a great deal to enjoy whether you’re looking for unique shops, places to picnic, walk, hike or bike, maybe enjoy the water boating or fishing, or just want to sit on a bench to ‘people watch’ or read a book. The Arts are alive and well in our community from the wonderful programs at the Havre de Grace Opera House to the various art galleries, and our annual Art Show in August. History is everywhere with five museums to give you even greater detail. So I encourage you to stay in touch, keep checking back for updates, and most certainly plan to stop in and say ‘hi.’

Havre de Grace truly is ‘the meeting place.’ Hope to meet you soon.
